The Heart Gallery: WordPress Website Migration
The Heart Gallery of Southeastern Texas helps connect children in foster care with prospective adoptive families by sharing their stories and putting a face to the need for permanent, loving homes. When its standalone website needed to be incorporated into the Texas Family Care Network (TXFCN) website, Citro was tasked with making that transition seamless, preserving the Heart Gallery experience and functionality while bringing it into the established TXFCN digital ecosystem.
The Challenge
This was more than a simple website migration. The Heart Gallery had its own content, functionality, and established way for visitors to explore profiles of children awaiting adoption. Moving that experience into TXFCN meant integrating it within an existing website architecture and visual system without diminishing what made the Heart Gallery useful and engaging. A key requirement was recreating the children's gallery functionality so visitors could continue to easily browse and learn more about individual children.
Our Solution
Citro migrated the Heart Gallery content into a dedicated section of the TXFCN website, thoughtfully adapting it to the existing design rather than creating a disconnected experience. Our development team also created a new children's gallery component that replicates the important functionality of the previous Heart Gallery website while fitting naturally within the TXFCN platform. The result brings two digital experiences together while preserving the Heart Gallery's purpose.
The Results
The integrated Heart Gallery section gives TXFCN a more unified digital presence while maintaining a dedicated and accessible destination for one of its most important initiatives. Visitors can explore children's profiles within the same website where they can learn more about TXFCN and its broader services, eliminating the need to maintain separate digital properties.
A note from the designer
The goal wasn't simply to move pages from one website to another. We needed to preserve what made the Heart Gallery work, especially the experience of exploring children's profiles, while making it feel like it had always been part of the TXFCN website.
